John "Buddy" Browning

Gaffney, SC - - John Robert "Buddy" Browning, 91, of 126 Foxfire Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at his residence.

Born in Anderson, he was the husband of the late Kathryn Ann Whelchel Browning and son of the late Colie Browning and Easter Smith Brucke and stepson of the late Albert Brucke.  He retired from Stowe Woodward Chemical Company and was a member of Kirby Church where he was very active in mission work.

Surviving are two daughters, Cindy Kelly (John) and Robin Mann, both of Gaffney; four grandchildren, Ryan Bell, Kara Bell, Kelsey Jones and Anna Marie Jones; five great-grandchildren, Anzlee, Aryanna, Zayne, Archer & Aurora.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dendy Sloan "Snake" Browning, Eugene Major "Tooty" Browning and Jake Roger Browning, and a sister, Jane Brown.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Kirby Church.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the Church with Reverend Duck McAbee and Reverend David Toney officiating.  Entombment in Frederick Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
