Vaughn Smith

Gaffney, SC - - William Vaughn Smith, 71, of 119 Hawkins Reynolds Road, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at his residence.

Born in Shelby, NC, he was the husband of Karen Hubbard Smith and the son of the late William "Bill" Ernest Smith and Ethel "Nelle" Jenelle Bostic Smith. He was raised in the Trinity community, was a graduate of Crest High School and a United States Navy Gulf War Veteran. He enjoyed rock climbing, restoring old cars and loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Smith was retired from Duke Energy and a member of North Point Church.

In addition to his wife, also surviving is a son, Billy Smith (Lacey) Mooresboro; two daughters, Keri Smith of the home and Jenny Moore (Adam) of Gaffney; a brother, Steve Smith ( Helen) of Mooresboro; a sister-in-law, Sandy Smith of Boiling Springs, NC; nine grandchildren, Arlie Smith, Andy Dobbins (Hannah), Bailee Aquina (Joe), Wade Bryant (Haley), Melia Bryant, Ava Meadows (Braydon), Addison Moore, Kinley Davis and Braylynn Bridges; four great-grandchildren, Peyton, Paislee, Izaiah, Knox and one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jason Dobbins; two brothers, Gary Smith and Keith Smith and Ginger Owens, who he loved as a daughter.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery in Mooresboro with Reverend Doug Pruett, Reverend Jack Phillips and Reverend Mike Frazier officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.
