William Earl Coyle
December 8, 1934 - February 5, 2025
Gaffney, SC- - With heavy hearts but grateful spirits, we announce the passing of William Earl Coyle who went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 5, 2025, at the age of 90.
A devoted husband, a perfect model of fatherhood, and a faithful servant of God, son of the late William Lee Coyle and Bessie Mae Blackwell Coyle Price and stepson of the late Leonard Price, Earl lived a life marked by unwavering faith, boundless love, and quiet ingenuity. His devotion to his family was second only to his love for Christ, and he found great joy in leading and guiding both at home and within his church community.
He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, ensuring they were always cared for and supported. His dedication and strong work ethic were a testament to his deep love for his wife, Estelline Coyle, and their sons. He also found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially camping and Gaffney Indian Football. He was well-known for his pound cakes and the generosity in which he shared them.
He was a dedicated member of Southside Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. Whether teaching scripture, making a visit, or leading by example, he poured his heart into sharing God's word and touching the lives of those around him.
A true pragmatist, Earl had a gift for problem-solving and an inventive spirit that made him a natural with gadgets. If something was broken, he found a way to fix it. If something didn't exist, he often found a way to create it. His curiosity and ingenuity made life richer for those who knew him, and his patient wisdom was a guiding light to all who sought his counsel.
Above all, Earl was a man of integrity, kindness, and humility. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and strength—one that will continue to inspire generations to come. Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find comfort in knowing that he is now rejoicing in the presence of the Lord and reunited with Estelline, his sweet bride of sixty-six years.
He is survived by his sons, Glen Coyle (Lynne) and Lee Coyle (Carla); grandchildren, Leanna Coyle-Carr (Aaron), Nathan Coyle (Calyn), Adam Coyle (Jessica), Carsen Taylor, and Caylee Taylor; great-grandchildren, Henlee Coyle-Carr, Watson and Mason Coyle, and Asher Coyle; and niece, Cathy Farish. He was predeceased by his sister, Lucille Lipsey.
The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until 2:00PM on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Southside Baptist Church in Gaffney, SC. A celebration of his life and faith will immediately follow at 2:00 PM at the Church with a service led by Rev. Mark Robertson and Rev. Lee Coyle. Entombment will follow in Springhill Memorial Gardens, Chesnee. Committal by Rev. Aaron Coyle-Carr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Southside Baptist Church, 204 W. O'Neal Street, Gaffney, SC 29340 in his honor.
