William “Bill” Brown

Gaffney, SC - - William Hames Brown beloved husband of Shirley Smith Brown passed away after several years of declining health on Friday, August 21, 2026. He was born in Gaffney and was the son of the late John William Brown & Mary Hames Brown.

Surviving in addition to his wife is his son, Stan Brown & his wife Dotty. Also, his sister JoAnn Burgess (Rick) and 2 brothers George Brown (Becky) and Bennie Brown (Tammy). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his daughter, Wendy Brown Ferguson.

He loved all of his nieces and nephews, but was especially close to his nephews, Richard Burgess (Tech Person & repairman) & Benji Brown (Fishing buddy & HVAC guy), & his niece Kelli Sarratt (who always made his birthdays & Father's Day special).

He was the former owner of Brown's Butcher Shop prior to his retirement in 2019 due to his health. He was a 3'd generation meat cutter, and involved in the family meat business for many years.

Bill loved fishing, yard sales, working in his yard & working crossword puzzles.

Bill was a proud graduate of the Gaffney High School Class of 1962, and attended Cecil's Business College.

Bill loved the Lord and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church where he attended the Robert Sprouse Sunday School Class, a member of the Teller Committee, and the Happy Travelers Senior Group.

The family will receive friends from 1:30PM until 3:00PM on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Corinth Baptist Church. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 3:00PM at the Church with Dr. Stephen Owensby & Mr. David Roark officiating. Interment will be in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
