William “Bill” Babcock

Gaffney, SC - - William “Bill” Frank Babcock, 86, of 174 Beaver Ridge Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Born in Weedsport, NY, he was the husband of Darlene Grigg Babcock and son of the late Laurence Jay Babcock and Mabel Nichols Babcock. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, a U. S. Navy Veteran, retired from INA Bearing in Spartanburg, and was a member of Central Baptist Church where he served in various capacities. He loved his family and golf, had a high mechanical acumen, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

In addition to his wife, also surviving are four sons, John Babcock and Reverend Joel Babcock (Kara), both of Gaffney, William F. Babcock, Jr. (Debbie) of Edmond, OK and Kevin M. Babcock (Tammy) of Union Springs, NY; a brother, Richard Babcock (Connie) of Goldsboro, NC; a sister, Nathalie Goodrich of Auburn, NY; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Babcock and Ronald Babcock, and five sisters, Deloris Thomas, Barbara Buck, Evelyn O’Hearn, Pauline Smaldon and Catherine Simmons.

The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until 2:00PM on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Central Baptist Church. Funeral services, with military honors, will immediately follow at 2:00PM at the Church with Dr. Clay Jones and Reverend Joel Babcock officiating.

The family will be at the home of Reverend & Mrs. Joel Babcock, 31 Bo Lane, Gaffney, SC 29340.
