William Lester

Gaffney, SC - - William Arthur Lester, 80, of 551McKowns Mountain Road, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Judy Upchurch Lester and the son of the late Elzie Van Lester and Frances Allison Lester. He had a great love for his family and was retired from Timken. Mr. Lester attended New Harvest Church of God.

In addition to his wife, also surviving is a daughter, Sarah Harris (Billy) of Gaffney; a sister, Mary Allison of Gaffney; a granddaughter, Megan Blackwell (Cody); a great-granddaughter, Ruby Nicole Harris; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Lester was preceded in death by a son, Billy Lester; a sister, Doris Blanton; and two brothers, Woodrow Lester and Lewis Lester.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Tommy Wright and Reverend Robert Wells officiating.
