Virginia Chris Phillips

Greenville, SC - - Virginia Chris Phillips, 93, formerly of 552 South Buckhorn Road, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Cherrydale Post Acute in Greenville, SC.

Chris was born in Gaffney to the late Summie Phillips and Ida Bell Richardson Phillips. She was a graduate of Gaffney High School where she was active in the band and on the basketball team. She was employed with Liberty Life Insurance Company in Greenville for 42 years as a clerk, supervisor and underwriter, and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Gaffney.

Chris is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, especially Betty Corbett, Donnie McGuffin and Michele Maas, and two special friends, Cynthia Somers and Tom Christain. She was preceded in death by her dear friend, Jean Waldrop, and her wonderful pet dog, Lexi.  She was preceded in death by three brothers, Earnest, Summie and Fay, and seven sisters, Beatrice McCraw, Dora Roberson, Daisy Osment, Clara Bridges, Geneva Teal, Abbie Cannaday and Annie Scruggs. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

The family will receive friends from 12:00PM until 1:00PM on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Harold Johnson officiating. Entombment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
