Thelma Janette Martin

Gaffney, SC - - Thelma Janette Ruppe Martin, 90, of 236 Phillips Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Cherokee Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the late Harold Eugene Martin and daughter of the late David D. Ruppe and Cynthia Leona Ruppe.  She was a homemaker, worked at Senior Centers of Cherokee County, and a member of Fairview Baptist Church.  She loved Jesus, her family and her church.

Surviving is a son, Timothy Charles Martin (Cathi) of Gaffney; two daughters, Rita Gail Martin and Tammy Martin Robinson (Wayne), both of Gaffney; seven grandchildren, Charlie Martin (Mandy), Shane Martin, Brandon Martin (Ashley), Bo Martin (Amy), Brooke Clark (J. Caleb), Brittany Howell (Chris) and Jordan Clark (Kenzie); eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Eugene Martin, three sisters, Littie Moore, Louise Stuard and Elzady McSwain, and a brother, Daniel Ruppe.

The family will receive friends from 11:00AM until 11:45AM on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Blakely Funeral Home.  Graveside services will immediately follow at 12:00PM in Frederick Memorial Gardens with Reverend Harold Johnson officiating.

The family will be at the residence, 236 Phillips Drive, Gaffney.
