Shirley Cooke Quinn
November 28, 1948 – March 8, 2026

Cowpens, SC - - Shirley Cooke Quinn, age 77, of 908 Savannah Street, Cowpens, South Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Just thirteen days earlier, she lost the love of her life and husband of 58 years, Gary Bruce Quinn. Their lifelong love story that began as seventh-grade sweethearts is now reunited in Heaven.

Born November 28, 1948, Shirley was the daughter of the late James Walker Cooke and Valerie Cooke. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Ola Belle Thrift, Yvonne Tucker, Bobby Allen, and Dianne Worley, and her brother Jimmy Cooke.

Shirley was a hardworking woman who dedicated much of her life serving others through her work. Over the years she worked as a seamstress at Raycord Sewing Factory and S & S Manufacturing. She later prepared and served food for the students of Spartanburg School District Three through Chartwells Food Services. She also worked at the K Cafe inside Kmart and at Polly's Cake Shop with her cousin Polly Ann Giles, who Shirley lovingly referred to as her "sister cousin."

In addition, Shirley was co-owner of Hillcrest Farm and Garden with her true love, Gary.

More than anything, Shirley loved her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished every moment with her boys, their wives, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world.

She is survived by her three sons:
Steve Quinn (Miranda), Stacey Quinn of the home, and Isaac Quinn (Mandy).

She is also survived by ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, along with her sister Janie McKinney and brother Leland Cooke.

Shirley was a woman of faith who loved serving her church and community. She served as director of Acteens at Central Baptist Church and also enjoyed coaching both girls and boys in church league softball. Her servant's heart and caring spirit touched many lives.

The family will be at the home at 908 Savannah Street in Cowpens.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 12, at Crossroads Baptist Church from 2:00 PM until 3:15 PM, with the funeral service beginning at 3:30 PM. Officiating will be Pastor Rich Lancaster of Crossroads Baptist Church, Pastor David Turner of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, and Mr. Isaac Quinn.

Interment will follow immediately at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Jacob Quinn, Tyler Quinn, Caleb Quinn, Jacob McKinnish, Caleb McKinnish, Kent Foster, and Brayden Rochelle.

Shirley will be remembered for her strong love for her family, her faith, her servant's heart, and the beautiful life she shared with her beloved Gary. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort knowing she and Gary are together again.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
