Bishop Samuel Camp

Gaffney, SC - - Bishop Samuel Gene Camp, 75, of 1197 Burnt Gin Road, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Freddie M. Camp and son of the late William Camp and Lenoria Dawkins Camp.  He was a graduate of Granard High School and attended Cecil's Business College.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the       S.C. Army National Guard, and retired as minister of Word of Truth Church in Blacksburg. Samuel loved his family and his Lord and was always ready to share Jesus with everyone he met. He lived his life as a devoted servant of Jesus Christ.  Samuel also was a carpenter, electrician and a very talented handyman.

Surviving in addition to wife are three sons, Gregory Camp (Nicole) of Spartanburg, Samuel Camp, Jr. of the home and Scott McCluney (Stacy) of Gaffney; a daughter, Angela Washington (Grette) of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Eddie Camp of Granite Falls and John Camp of Hickory, NC; two sisters, Lula Moore of Hickory, NC and Deidra C. Petty (Maurice) of Gaffney; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Camp and a sister, Minnie Hunt.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Blakely Funeral Home.  Memorial services, with military honors, will follow at 2:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Danny Marshburn officiating.
