Obituary

Ruby Nelleen Seay

Pacolet, SC - - Ruby Nelleen Seay, 93, of Pacolet, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

Born January 31, 1933, in Pacolet, she was the daughter of the late William K. Seay and Dora Pugh Seay.

Nelleen retired from the banking industry after 45 years of dedicated service. While she worked faithfully throughout her career, her true life's work extended far beyond any profession. She was a devoted and lifelong member of Pacolet Mills Baptist Church, where she faithfully led and served in the Women's Missionary Union for more than 50 years. Her heart beat for missions. Under her leadership, the church consistently met and often exceeded its goals for the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. She believed deeply in spreading the Gospel—both near and far—and worked quietly and tirelessly to ensure that mission continued.

If something needed to be done at church, Nelleen was there. She faithfully kept attendance records, counted offerings, organized activities, and invested in the spiritual growth of generations. Though she never married or had children of her own, she nurtured and encouraged countless spiritual sons and daughters through her church and community.

After retiring, Nelleen continued serving others by volunteering at Pacolet Elementary School, assisting kindergarten and first-grade students who needed extra academic support. Many young lives were strengthened because she showed up—patient, steady, and kind.

Nelleen lived independently for 93 remarkable years—a testament to her resilience, strength, and steadfast spirit. Her life was not loud, but it was faithful. Not flashy, but deeply fruitful. She was a true example of a servant's heart and leaves behind a legacy written in the lives she encouraged, the missions she supported, and the church she loved.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Rachel Sherbert, Ophelia Manning, Lillian Ann Millwood, Eloise Mathis and Mildred Kash, and two brothers, Buddy Seay and Donnie "Moon" Seay.

Receiving of friends will be Thursday February 19th at 10:30am at Pacolet Mills Baptist Church, followed by the funeral at 11am with Reverend Norman Band and Reverend John Cox officiating.  Interment will be in White Rose Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Pacolet Mills Baptist Church, 385 Stone Street, Pacolet, SC 29372.
