Roy Harris

Spartanburg, SC - - Roy Harris, 86, of Spartanburg, SC went home to be with the Lord on September 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

A native of Cowpens, he was the son of the late Alfred and Ellen Earls Harris. He retired from SCDOT after 30 years of dedicated service and was a member of Thompson Chapel Baptist Church. He will be lovingly remembered for his passion for gardening, fishing, bike riding, tinkering, and loved being outside just finding things he could do.

Left to cherish his memory are: his daughters, Brenda Edwards (Billy) of the home and Linda Shackleford and son, Roy "Dale" Harris (Darlene) both of Cowpens; grandchildren, Michael Lee Whitt of the home, Renee Ashcraft (Zach), Jessica Cunningham (Alex), Terry "Turk" Martin, Eric Martin, Pam Harris (Rodney) who was raised in the home, Wayne Harris, Travis Harris (Julie), Annie Firebaugh; 16 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren and his beloved sidekick, China.

Also surviving are 3 stepchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and 11 step great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children Ruth Ward Harris Ruppe, son, Alfred "Leebo" Harris, baby daughter Sara "Renee" Harris, his second wife, Elizabeth Million Harris, a stepson, brothers Willie Harris, Robert Harris and James C. Harris and sisters, Sara Harris, Marie Massey, and Nancy Swofford.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating. Interment will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be at their respective home.
