Robert Walker

Chesnee, SC - - Robert Lee Walker, 87, passed away on September 15, 2026. He was born on August 11, 1939, to the late Joe Walker and Annie Hawkins Walker.

Robert was a simple, hardworking man who loved farming and gardening. A soybean farmer, he spent much of his life working the land. He especially enjoyed his garden, and for many years, the garden along Highway 11 was one of the prettiest around. He took pride in planting it, caring for it, and watching it grow. He also loved vintage cars, especially Chevelles and raised beagles most of his life. Mr. Walker was a graduate of Chesnee High School and of the Baptist faith.

Robert was the husband of Ruth Lester Walker for 65 years and the father of Bobby, Ronnie, and Libby. His grandchildren knew him as Pop, and he was proud to watch his family grow over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, JW Walker; sisters, Annie Louise Henson, Letty Watson, and Lucille Newton; and a son-in-law, Ralph Warlick.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; a sister, Dorothy Sanders; children, Bobby Walker, Ronnie Walker and Libby Warlick; grandchildren, Jeannie Dobson (Joel), Rhonda Ward, Jason Warlick (Jennifer), Ashley Height (Marty) Cassie Walker and Jesse Walker (Lexus); great-grandchildren, Heath, Haileigh, Henry, Holden, Max, Charlie, Matthew, Maddilyn, Blair, Briana, Leah, and Skylar; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Robert lived a quiet life and was content with simple things. He loved the land, enjoyed his garden, and cared deeply for his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A graveside service will be held at Frederick Memorial Gardens on Friday, September 18, 2026 at 2:00PM with Mr. Marty Height officiating.

The family will be at the residence of his daughter, Libby Warlick, 1060 Highway 11-East, Chesnee, SC 29323.
