Robert "Fat Boy" Coleman

Gaffney, SC - - Robert Lee "Fat Boy" Coleman, 78, of 555 Robbs School Road, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Cherokee Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of the late Faye Dillenger Coleman and son of the late Herbert & Thelma Blanchard Taber.  He was the retired owner/operator of Coleman's Construction and Coleman Produce, and a member of Cherokee Gospel Tabernacle. Robert loved his family, especially his grandchildren, was a member of the VFW, enjoyed karaoke, and working on cars.

He is survived by a son, Doug Coleman (Pamela) of Gaffney; a daughter, Tammy Whisenant (Jeff Robinette) of Gaffney; three brothers, Dennis Coleman (Angie), Rick Coleman (Tammie) and Richard Taber (Cindy), all of Gaffney; two sisters, Kathy Carter of Smyrna and Teresa Rose of Gaffney; five grandchildren, Christopher Coleman (Nikki), Timothy Whisenant (Brandi), Kevin Coleman (Sarah), Morgan Doster (Kevin) and Houston Jones; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Coleman.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, January 12, 2026 at Blakely Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Richard Sellars officiating.  Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
