Robert “Bobby” Pettit

Gaffney, SC - - Robert “Bobby” Earl Pettit, 80, formerly of Autumn Circle, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 22nd 2026 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, he was the son of the late John Calvin Pettit Jr. and Joyce Jewel Pettit. He worked at Musgrove Mills until the doors closed and then he retired. Before that he worked at Limestone Mills for many years. He was a U. S. Army veteran, drafted in 1964. He loved NASCAR and working on cars & trucks, until just a few months ago. He was a former mechanic, avid fisherman and of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Seals and step-daughter Allison Moss Lush (Larry); his former wife Alice Tyler that has been such a great friend and help; three sisters, Vera Holler, Martha Crawford, and Mary Etula White (Joe), and fiancé Joyce Cobb; two step-sons Terry and Tommy Wicks; two grandchildren Courtney Seals and Dusty Pettit; 3 great grandchildren & multiple nieces, nephews, and close cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Jimmy Wicks.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 12:00PM on Monday, July 27, 2026 in Frederick Memorial Gardens with Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.

The family will be at their respective homes.
