Richmond Thurston

Gaffney, SC - - Richmond "Dick" Earl Thurston, 75, of 1237 Champion Ferry Road, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at his residence.

Born in Northfield, VT, he was the husband of Romonia Davis Thurston and the son of the late Leon Earl Thurston and Eris Flint Thurston. He was a United States Army Veteran and a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed woodworking, very mechanical and loved his furbaby, Gizmo. Mr. Thurston was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

In addition to his wife, also surviving are two step-sons, James Warren (Misty) of Inman and Alen Warren; two God-sons, Ricky Green of Gaffney and Shawn Doyle of Forest City; two brothers, Wilbert "Pete" Thurston (Lillian) of White River Junction, VT and Raymon L. Thurston (Mary) of Durham, NC; two sisters, Maxine Young of Sharon, VT and Nancy Moulton (David) of Utah; six grandchildren, Nevaeh Warren, Chander Warren, Sierra Scruggs, Carson Scruggs, Kyerstin Warren and Gage Fore; three great-grandchildren, Harper, Zaylen and Colby; two brothers-in-law, Donnie Davis (Lisa) and Eddie Davis (Dawn), both of Gaffney; a mother-in-law, Evie Giles of Gaffney; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Thurston was preceded in death by an infant son; and a brother-in-law, Charles Davis.

The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until 11:00AM on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00AM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Daryle Hawthorne and Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating.
