Obituary

Renѐe McFalls

Gaffney, SC - - Renѐe Jenkins McFalls, 67, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025 at her residence. Renѐe would like to let you know that her time shared on earth with you has come to an end. She wishes her time with you now be filled with happy and joyful memories. Renѐe received a call to travel to a new and divine destination. True to form, she was ready and waiting. Always eager for her next trip or adventure, she is surely rejoicing to reach her final destination. Upon her arrival, to her delight, she was reunited with her father, sister and furbabies.

Born in York, she was the daughter of Sue Gibson Jenkins of Clover and the late Franklin D. Jenkins. She was a graduate of Clover High, Winthrop University and attended Sorbornne University in Paris. Her Honor Societies include: Alpha Lambda, Delta, Kappa Delta Pi (Education), Book and Key, Phi Kappa Phi, Sigma Tau Delta (English) and Pi Delta Phi (French). Renѐe's primary passion was education. She shared this passion for over 30 years as an English and French teacher. She was named The Teacher of the Year for Gaffney High School, Cherokee County School District and Josten's Teacher of the Year in 2005-2006. Renѐe was also named in the "Who's Who Among American Teachers" in 2003. It was part of her educational goals to increase her student's knowledge of culture through first-hand experiences. Renѐe was the organizer and chaperone on numerous trips to New Orleans, Paris and other European countries during her tenure at Gaffney High School.

Renѐe's extensive travels enhanced her love of languages and world cultures. Her favorite destinations were Paris and most any beach. When not traveling, Renѐe enjoyed sharing time at the family beach house making memories with her Mermaid Squad. She also had a great love for many furbabies, especially her Millie Sue.

Renѐe was also deeply enriched by her large circle of friends, many of whom are like family. She was forever open to traveling, camping, boating, beaching, reading or any form of celebrating life. These friends along with family surrounded her until the end.

Renѐe was a retired school teacher from Gaffney High School and an active member for over 20 years at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation.

Surviving are two sisters, Crystal Jenkins Reece (Wade) of Boonville, NC and Melody Jenkins Hamlin (William) of Myrtle Beach; six nieces and nephews, Franklin Daniel Scruggs (Tiffany), Kristy Lynn Scruggs (Travis), N. Fletcher Bazemore (Danielle), Morgan Hamlin McLeod (Tyler), J. Duncan Bazemore, McKenzie E. Hamlin; and a great-niece and three great-nephews.  Ms. McFalls was preceded in death by a sister, Debra Jenkins Scruggs; and a longtime special friend, Ginger Horton.
