Maxine Spencer

Gaffney, SC - - Maxine Lavender Spencer, 85, of 451 Hamrick Street, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at Brookview Healthcare Center.

Born in Gaffney, SC, she was the wife of Chester F. Spencer and the daughter of the late Oliver D. Lavender and Lillie Foust Lavender Teague and the step-daughter of the late Charlie H. Teague.

In addition to her husband, also surviving is one daughter, Linda S. Wright (Doug) and one granddaughter, Lindsay K. Wright, all of Gaffney; a step-brother, Ron Teague (Janet) of Covington, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Oliver Keith Lavender.

She was a graduate of Gaffney High School and retired from Broad River Electric Company after 35 years of service. She loved her family and enjoyed going to the beach and mountains with them. She and her husband loved flea markets and auctions. Collecting antiques was her hobby over the years. Mrs. Spencer was a member of Southside Baptist Church, where she was helped in the nursery for many years.

A private graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery with Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating.
