Mary Lane

Boiling Springs, SC - - Mary Smith Lane, 89, of 3711 Clark Road, formerly of Gaffney, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Lakewood Senior Living.

Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the late William "Bill" Langford Lane, III and daughter of the late Edward Judson Smith and Susie Robbs Smith.  She was a graduate of Gaffney High School, a graduate of Cecil's Business College and a homemaker.  She was a founding member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was dedicated to her Lord and family.

Surviving are three daughters, Carol Cooley (Jones) of Chesnee, Cathy Worsley (Arnold) of Tarboro, NC, and Elizabeth Wichers (Lt. Col. Andrew) of Inman; a brother, Edward Judson Smith, Jr. of Clearwater, FL; four grandchildren, Shannon Wichers Miller (Pieter), Judson Wichers (Leena), Will Cooley (fiancé Jessica Harris), and Joseph Worsley; three great-grandchildren, Silas Miller, Rhett Miller and Celia Mary Miller; numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Godfrey and Helen Shackell.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at Blakely Funeral Home with Rev. James (Bucky) Brown officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
