Martha Goforth

Gaffney, SC – Martha Gardner Goforth, 80, of 233 Midway Terrace, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at her residence.

Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Neal Aubrey Goforth and daughter of the late Willie Sims Gardner and Marie Clary Gardner.  She formerly worked in textiles, retired from Cherokee County Voter Registration after 25 years of service and was a member of Midway Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband is a son, Steven Brian Goforth (Jennifer) of Mills River, NC; two grandchildren, Logan Matthew Goforth and Zachary Carter Goforth; ten nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Willie Mae Scruggs (Major), Tessie Mae Gardner, Ruth Gardner Moore (R.B.), Irma Sue Gardner and Frances Gardner Addison (Johnny), and a brother, Robert O. Gardner.

The family would like to extend special thanks to her caregiver Penny M. Brown and Agape Care Group and their employees, Ashley Jolley, Courtney Kirby and Holly Frehse.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, February 3, 2025 in the Midway Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Vernon Craig and Reverend Ryan Vaughan officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
