Maggie Hill

Gaffney, SC - - Maggie Peterson Hill, 90, of Gaffney, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 30, 2026 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born on September 20, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Bob and Ethel Peterson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby D. Hill; her children, Bobby Lee “Buck” Hill and Deborah Melton; and her siblings, Jesse Peterson, R. B. Peterson, Grady Peterson, Virgil Peterson and Margie Calvert.

Left to treasure her memory are her son, Billy “Rowdy” Hill (Madison); her sisters, Jean Williams and Sally Elliot; her grandchildren, Misty Karsmizki (Donnie), Tomica Melton, Bobby Hill (Liz), and Brandi Hill; her great-grandchildren, Emmett Nance, James Foster, and Corey Hill.

Maggie, lovingly known as “Nanny” by her family, had a heart for taking care of others. If you came to her house hungry, chances were you would not leave that way. Her home was a place where everyone was welcomed, cared for, and loved, including the deer, birds, and squirrels.

Above all, Maggie loved her family and loved the Lord. Her life was marked by a simple, steadfast faith, a caring heart, and a love that will continue through the generations she leaves behind.

Though her family will miss her deeply, they find comfort in knowing that she has gone home to be with the Lord and has been reunited with those she loved who went before her. Her memory will live on in the stories told, the lessons she taught, the songs that bring her to mind, and the love she gave so freely.

The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until 11:00AM on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00AM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Larry Melton officiating. Interment will be in the Cliffside Baptist Church Cemetery.
