Kenneth "Ken" McGinnis

Chesnee, SC - - Kenneth "Ken" Howard McGinnis, 63, of Chesnee, South Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on, May 7th 2024, at Spartanburg Regional System Hospice Home. The family would like to thank Spartanburg Regional Palliative Care, Spartanburg Regional System Hospice Home, and Dr. Albert Mossburg.

Born on November 11, 1959, in Spartanburg, South Carolina he was the husband of Dee Dee Stacey McGinnis for 41 years, and son of the late Joe Harrell and Myra Evelyn Vickers McGinnis.

Ken was a passionate entrepreneur who found fulfillment in building and managing his own businesses. He founded AmStarr, Inc. in 2003.  Ken was known for his entrepreneurial spirit.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Ken enjoyed spending time with his family, and he loved music. One of his most cherished contributions was involvement in bringing music to nursing homes.  Through the band's performances, Ken, a bass guitarist, and his fellow musicians brought joy to the residents as they often visited 17 nursing homes a month.

In addition to his wife, also surviving are a daughter, Amberli Yeasted and husband Dan; son, Joe McGinnis and wife Marlye; son, Grant McGinnis and wife Abbey; grandchildren: Elizabeth McGinnis, Adelyn McGinnis, Tobin McGinnis, Pax McGinnis, Teagon McGinnis, Mayvrie Yeasted, Sims McGinnis, MaSeay McGinnis, Radley McGinnis, Allissa-Marie McGinnis and Maggie Yeasted; sister, Brenda Thrift and husband Darrell; sister-in-law, Deana Watson and husband Jeff, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 9th from 5-7pm at Blakely Funeral home. The family will have a private Celebration of Life to honor Ken and a private burial. The McGinnis family will be gathered at the home of Ken and Dee Dee.
