Kenneth Cash

Gaffney, SC - - On August 25, 2024, Kenneth Gene Cash, 86, ran to the feet of Jesus with a giant smile on his face and was welcomed Home. He passed peacefully from this earth under the tender care of the special staff of the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home after a several-week battle with multiple complications from open heart surgery. He was the youngest and only remaining child of the late Jefferson Davis Cash and Lula Hamrick Cash.

Ken was a loving, funny, witty, kind and generous soul, who was almost always smiling. He was a farmer first, then an accountant; he also had an entrepreneurial spirit during the course of his working life as he was a successful travel agent and Realtor. He knew so much about his family, his community and church; he was a virtual talking history book! Ken was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

He was a very independent man; he was determined to have things move in a particular direction. He had a heart big as all the outdoors and he would give the shirt off his back to someone who needed it, but don't cross him! He might come after you with that walking stick! He saw tough times over the years in his life and he always turned to God to get him through. He did things his way, and he followed God to the best of his ability.

Ken will be remembered most for his loving heart and compassionate caregiving toward his Mama and his siblings. He selflessly cared for his mother for many years and did the same for two of his widowed sisters, Thelma and Willene, until their passing. He also helped with other siblings whenever they had a need. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Cecil Cash, Jeff Cash, Jamous Cash and Clyde Cash and six sisters: Edith Byars, Victoria Lipscomb, Geneva Martin, Thelma Kirby, Marcy McDade and Willene Guest.

Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church, 216 Macedonia Road, Gaffney, SC  29341 or to the Spartanburg Regional Foundation (Hospice), PO Box 2624, Spartanburg, SC  29304.
