Kathleen Bishop

Gaffney, SC - - Kathleen Wright Bishop, 93, of 3943 Cherokee Avenue, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum.

Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the late Edgar Bishop and daughter of the late John Claude Wright and Millie Virginia Peeler Wright.  She retired from Musgrove Mills and was formerly a member of Grace Baptist Church.  She loved her family, cooking, canning and was a great homemaker.

Surviving are four daughters, Martha Carr (Ricky), Lynn Crowe, both of Cowpens, Brenda Painter and Kathy Smith, both of Gaffney; a brother, David Wright of Gaffney; a sister, Sybil Alvis of Fort Bragg, NC; five grandchildren, Karen Powell (Reverend Brent), Kevin Sparks (Leslie), Kelly Lee (Andrew), Scott Dover and Tracie Painter; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two grandsons, Billy Blanton and Jason Smith and eleven brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Monday, June 30, 2025 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 AM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mike Wood officiating.  Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
