Gaffney, SC - - With profound sadness we announce the passing of Joyce Lee Earls Allison, 89, a devoted mother, grandmother and friend to all whose lives she touched. She went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at her residence surrounded with her loved ones, peacefully in her sleep.
Born at home on April 22,1935 in Cliffside, North Carolina, she was the widow of the late Clellan Herman Allison and daughter of the late Collis Lonzo Earls and Virginia Robinson Earls. She graduated from Boiling Springs High School in NC. She retired from Timken of Gaffney and was a member of Providence Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School class.
Surviving are her two sons, Keith Allison (Teresa) of York and Brian Allison (Lynn) of Gaffney; nine grandchildren, Susan Laiewski (David), Crystal Tuell (Paul), Justina Cobb (Bryan), Jennie Allison, Ashleigh Turner (Matt), Caroline McGinnis (Marcus), William Allison (Mae), Abigail Allison and Jessup Allison; seven great grandchildren: Caleb Tuell, Brooke Ligon, Alyssa Sarratt, Noah Tuell, Allison Sarratt, Axton Vinson and Eden Allison.
Joyce witnessed incredible changes to the world over the course of her lifetime. Born in the middle of the depression, with thousands travelling the back roads and rail in America looking for work or a helping hand, she was innately instilled with strength and forbearance. As the decades passed and Joyce grew up, war and technology changed lives on a grand scale and improved her and others' quality of life.
She witnessed technology and innovation first-hand during her 20 plus years of dedicated employment at the Timken Company a fortune 500 company and global leader in industrial motion and engineered bearings.
She loved her Lord and her family. To know her was to love her. She was an inspiration to all she met.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Ann Wilkie and Ruby Jean Martin, a brother, Wayne Earls, and a grandson, Ryker Lee Allison.
