Joe Moore Jr.

Gaffney, SC - - Joe T. Moore Jr., 95, formerly of 117 Fernwood Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Palmetto Patriots Home.

Born in Charlotte, NC, he was the husband of the late Jean Johnson Moore and the son of the late Joe T. Moore Sr. and Ellen Ballenger Moore. He was a United States Army Veteran, was retired from Duke Energy, where he was a Project Manager and former owner/operator of Cherokee Contracting. He enjoyed woodworking and giving to others. Mr. Moore was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served on several committees.

Surviving are two sons, Joe T. Moore III (Karen) of Gaffney and George W. Moore (Tereca) of Lake Norman; a daughter, Margaret Moore Hester (Henry G. Jr.) of Charlotte; six grandchildren, Rebecca Kehe (Jeff), Tara Marshall (Dan), David Moore (Jenny), Amanda Hodan (Mike), Paul Hester and Megan Hester; five great-grandchildren, Nathan, Charles, Katherine, Charlotte and Claire; and brother-in-law, Dan McGinnis of California. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by a sister, Dora Ellen McGinnis.

The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until 11:00AM on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00AM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Colonel Reverend Roy Mathis and Reverend Kevin Hampton officiating. Entombment will be private for family at Frederick Memorial Gardens with military honors.
