Joe Dean Holcomb

Gaffney, SC - - Joe Dean Holcomb, 81, of 657 Starr Ridge Road, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Carolyn Robinson Holcomb and son of the late Ralph Holcomb and Mary Martin Holcomb.  He was employed by Tomlinson Construction for over 25 years, also worked for Warco Construction, and thereafter formed his own business, Holcomb Construction.  He was a member of True Gospel Independent Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.   He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, formerly played softball with the Rangers, and enjoyed coon hunting.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Debra Holcomb Benton of Blacksburg, Donna Holcomb Gay, Crystal Holcomb Owens (David) and Pamela Holcomb Cantrell, all of Gaffney; three brothers, Steve Holcomb (Carolyn), Boyd Holcomb (Charlotte) and Edward Holcomb, all of Gaffney; a sister, Ethel Fowler of Gaffney; grandchildren, Miranda Jackson (Jason), Brandon Gay (Tabby), Brandy Benton, Dylan Gay, Dustin Gay (Tiffany), Joshua Gay (Aladdin), Aaron Benton, Ally Pongrujipitiporn (Time), Alyssa Cantrell (Aaron), Hunter Owens (Kaylee), Caleb Cantrell (Anna) and Nicolas Benton; fifteen great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Holcomb and Amos Holcomb, a grandson, Thomas Benson "Scooter" Gay, and a great-granddaughter, Blaire Christine McDaniel.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Blakely Funeral Home.  Funeral services be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at True Gospel Independent Baptist Church with Reverend William Blanton, Reverend Jerry Peck, Mr. Billy Blackwell and Mrs. Donna Mullinax officiating.   Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
