Joe Dean Crawford, Sr.

Gaffney, SC - - Joe Dean Crawford, Sr., 85, of 424 High Point Road, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Born in Cherokee Falls, he was the husband of Ruby Lail Crawford and son of the late Howard Wesley Crawford and Mary Irene Moss Crawford.  He was a graduate of Blacksburg High School and Spartanburg Technical College and retired from textiles.  He was a U. S. Army Korean War Veteran, retired from the S. C. National Guards, and was a member of Pacolet Road Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Joe Dean Crawford, Jr. (Sonya) of Grandy, NC and Shannon Lee Crawford (Stefni) of Spartanburg; a brother, Jimmy Ray Crawford (Marilyn) of Gaffney; seven grandchildren, Danny Davenport, Meghan Williams, Adam Crawford, Zechariah Crawford, Noah Crawford, Lauren Crawford and Joseph Crawford; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Crawford and two sisters, Evelyn McKenzie and Faye Clary.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Blakely Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bryon Inman, Mr. Jeremy Martin and Mr. Shannon Crawford officiating.  Interment, with military honors, will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
