Jerry Gilliam

Boiling Springs, SC - - Jerry Louis Gilliam, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Born in Spartanburg, SC, he was the husband of the late Joan Calloway Gilliam and son of the late Barm Bobo Gilliam and Rosa Belle McSwain Gilliam.  He was a graduate of Fairforest High School, retired from J. Frank Blakely and Denny's Corp. and a U. S. Navy veteran.  He was a member of First Baptist North Spartanburg where he was a choir member and usher.  Jerry was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather, an avid golfer, and a member of the "Hump Day" Hackers at Village Green Country Club.

Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Gilliam (Vickie) of Greenville, SC and Craig Gilliam (Karen) of Boiling Springs, SC; a daughter, Robin Richardson (Jerry) of Boiling Springs, SC; a brother, Vernon Gilliam of Redondo Beach, California; a sister, Clara Dillard of Spartanburg, SC; six grandchildren, Jeremy Richardson (Adah), Jody Richardson (Tamara), Zach Gilliam (Sarah), Brandon Gilliam (Megan), Dawn Anderson (Cole) and Madelyn Gilliam; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until 11:00AM on Monday, February 9, 2026 at First Baptist North Spartanburg. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00AM at the Church with Dr. Michael S. Hamlet officiating.  Interment, with military honors, will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens.
