Jennie Bridges

Gaffney, SC - - Jennie Phillips Bridges, 81, of 505 Union Street, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the late Julius Arthur "Bud" Bridges and daughter of the late Leroy Phillips and Virginia Bolin Adams.  She was a graduate of Gaffney High School, attended Limestone College, a homemaker, and retired from Peachtree Centre.  Jennie was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, loved her family, flowers and gardening.

Surviving are two sons, Derek Todd Bridges of the home and Lyle Channing Bridges (Tammy) of Gaffney; four grandchildren, Luke Bridges, Nathan Bridges, Shauna Bridges and Jasmine Bridges; a special niece, Lori Covington (Kevin) of Gaffney; several other nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Melton.

The family will receive friends from 12:00PM until 1:00PM on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Clyde Thomas officiating.  Entombment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
