Janice Hollifield

Mooresboro, NC - - Janice Nell Hollifield, 89 years of age and resident of Mooresboro, NC, was born on December 14, 1936 and entered heaven on December 24, 2025.  Born in Chesnee, SC, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Effie Hollifield.

A graduate of Chesnee High School, class of 1955, Janice attended Mars Hill College for two years and began a career working with disadvantaged children.  Miss Hollifield was initially employed by Presbyterian Home for Children in Black Mountain, NC and subsequently by Eliada Home for Children in Asheville, NC.  She retired from the South Carolina School for Deaf and Blind in Spartanburg after twenty-seven years as Director of Cottage Life.

Janice is survived by two brothers, Donald Hollifield (Blanche) of Chesnee and Denton Hollifield (Phyllis) of Chesnee.  She was predeceased by two brothers, Morris Hollifield and Fred Hollifield.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Because she loved encouraging family and friends, Janice enjoyed sending cards and gifts to others on special occasions and when they experienced difficulties.

Funeral services will be conducted at Arrowwood Baptist Church at 4:00 PM on Sunday, December 28, 2025 with Reverend Daniel Godfrey and Dr. Wofford Caughman officiating.  The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following burial in the church cemetery.
