Pat Phillips

Gaffney, SC - - James Patrick "Pat" Phillips, 87, of 200 Robbs School Road, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 25, 2025 surrounded by his family at his home.

Born in Gaffney, he was the loving husband of Carole LeMaster Phillips for 64 years and the son of the late James Davis Phillips and Ruby Poole Phillips. He was a United States Air Force Veteran, a graduate of Gaffney High School, University of South Carolina and received a Masters from University of North Carolina. He was an Educator and Coach, drove for Good News Tours, after retirement and enjoyed cross-country motorcycle riding with Carole. He also enjoyed farming, riding tractors and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Mr. Phillips was a member of Grassy Pond Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday School Teacher.

In addition to his wife, also surviving is a son, Brett Davis Phillips (Rene'e) of Walhalla; a daughter, Lisa Phillips Hauser (Ray) of Gaffney; two brothers, Lane Phillips (Martha) of Lyman and Benny Phillips (Alice) of Gaffney; six grandchildren, Travis Kirkland (Marianne), Josh Kirkland (Tabitha), Brandi Davis, Scott Davis, Andrew Hauser (Eileen) and Stephen Hauser (April); eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by an infant sister, Carolyn Phillips; and two brothers, Gerald Phillips and Joe Dean Phillips.

The family will receive friends from 11:00AM until 12:00PM on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Grassy Pond Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00PM at the church with Reverend Martin Hogg and Reverend Mark Gregory officiating. Private interment for the family will be in Grassy Pond Baptist Church Cemetery.
