James “J.D.” Murphy

Gaffney, SC - - James Dennis “J.D.” Murphy, 73, of 156 Eastview Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 25, 2026 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Born in Seneca, he was the husband of Lisa Trusty Murphy and son of the late Betty Graham Pound and Elvin Pound. He retired from Auriga Polymers, loved his family, and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, also surviving are two sons, Bo Murphy (Lisa) of Seneca and Scott Murphy of Gaffney; three daughters, Patricia Simpson (Eric) of Liberty, Jaime Kelly of Clover, and Jessica Meadows (Ronnie) of Gaffney; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Murphy who was reared in the home as a daughter; a brother, Donnie Murphy (Beth) of Seneca; two sisters, Louise Hendricks (Sammy) of Seneca and Lisa Midgett (Alton) of Newnan, GA; twelve grandchildren, Morgan Hedglin (Tyler), Julie Harris, Dakota Kelly, Sierra Kelly, Zach Murphy, Maddie Murphy, Mason Meadows, Ayden Meadows, Kolton Meadows, Rylan Murphy, Julian Murphy and Winter Murphy; six great-grandchildren, Cameron, Chandler, Blakely, Kashton, Jacob and Colt; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Murphy and his grandson, Tyler Simpson.

The family will receive friends from 12:30PM until 1:30PM on Thursday, October 29, 2026 at Blakely Funeral Home. Graveside services will immediately follow at 2:00PM in Oakland Cemetery with Reverend Ivan Jones officiating.

The family will be at their respective homes.
