James Austin

Gaffney, SC - - James Edward Austin, 37, of 368 Twin Lake Road, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 17, 2026.

Born in Martinsville, Indiana, he was the companion of Stacy Inman and son of Anthony L. Austin of Greencastle, Indiana and Beverly Jo Hatch Peel of Gaffney.  He was employed by Milliken in Blacksburg and a member of Kirby Church.  He loved his family and was a devoted, partner, father and son.

Surviving in addition to his companion and parents is a son, Camden Austin of the home; three daughters, Carter Austin of Greenville, Mallory Merka and Makenzie Austin, both of the home; four brothers, Anthony L. Austin of Mooresville, IN, Dusty McCormick of Franklin, IN, Donny McCormick of Greencastle, IN and D. J. McCormick of Crown Point, IN; two sisters, Jennifer Somers of Muncie, IN and April Walker-Burkett of Martinsville, IN; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2:00PM until 3:00PM on Friday, April 24, 2026 at Blakely Funeral Home.  Memorial services will immediately follow at 3:00PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Will Vergara officiating.
