Grace Powell

Chesnee, SC - Grace Painter Powell went to see Jesus Thursday morning, November 20, 2025, at 93 years old.

She was born in Chesnee to the late Robert and Clara Painter and passed away on the same farm she was raised on.

She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Gaffney.

She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Bobby Powell, her son Scott Powell (Kim), daughter Denise Cohan (Wayne), granddaughter Amber Samuels (Fletcher), grandson Jesse Powell (Leighna), great grandsons, Austin Samuels, Mason Samuels, Watson Powell, and step great granddaughter Amillya "Milly" Kuehn, and her former daughter-in-law Robyn Lentz Powell.  She is also survived by her brothers Robert "Doug" Painter (Frances), Cecil Painter (Shelbia), Marshall Painter and sister Althea Champion (Melvin) and several nieces and nephews.

In addition, Grace is survived by her son's extended family through marriage as well as her 'adopted' family the Smiths, Keith, Michelle, Jessica, Kaylie and Hanna.

Grace always had a smile on her face.  She never met a stranger.  She loved everyone she met, and they loved her as well.  Her 'adopted' Smith family is a good example of that love.
