George H. Missita

Spartanburg, S.C. - - George H. Missita, 86, went home to be with the Lord on August 18, 2025. George was born in 1939 in Glens Falls, N.Y. He was predeceased by his parents: Salvatore Missita and Helen Sebert Missita of Glens Falls, his brother John Missita of Hudson Falls, NY, and his son David Missita of Pacolet, SC. George was a member of New Beginnings Christian Fellowship in Pacolet, SC.

George is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sonja and son Brett, his sister-in-law Ginny Missita Waddington of Hudson Falls, NY, brothers-in-law, Fred F. Stewart of Spartanburg, and Joseph E. Simpson and wife Sandy of Brant Lake, NY, and several nieces and nephews.

George was a building contractor in Spartanburg, SC, for many years. He retired at 65 but found his new life of retirement boring. He was energetic and wanted to continue work. He found an auto parts delivery job very satisfying in his senior years until his health would not permit.

George had many hobbies and interests, including photography, dirt track racing, golf, football, and most sports. He always enjoyed day trips to the mountains. George loved engaging people in conversation and is remembered for his great sense of humor.

Per the family's request, services will not be held at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, and details will be posted once arrangements have been made. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in George's memory can be made to the building fund of New Beginnings Church of Pacolet, S.C.
