Ernest Lavender Sr.

Gaffney, SC - - Ernest Glenn Lavender Sr., 88, formerly of 102 Cypress Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 29, 2024 at The Retreat of Gaffney.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of the late Bessie Ree Lemmons Lavender and the son of the late Willie Lavender and Carmie Farley Lavender. He was an avid Gamecock, Indian and Carolina Panther fan. He enjoyed gardening and had a great love for his family. Mr. Lavender was retired from Hoechst Celanese and was a member of Love Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Thomas Lavender, David Lavender (Linda) and Ernest Lavender Jr., all of Gaffney; four sisters, Juanita Ramsey, Louise Lancaster, both of Chesnee, Eula Lookadoo of NC and Laverne Wilson (Jim) of TX; four grandchildren, Michael Lavender (Jennifer) of AL, Tabitha Lavender of Blacksburg, Curstie Allison (James) of Gaffney and Shannon Moore (Jonathan) of Kings Mountain; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Mr. Lavender was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Darwin and Frances Hammett.

The family will receive friends from 12:00PM until 1:00PM on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00PM in the Blakely Funeral home Chapel with Reverend Chris White officiating. Entombment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at their respective homes and after the service the family will be at the residence.
