Elizabeth Bright

Gaffney, SC - - Elizabeth Byars Bright, 100, of 110 Church Street, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 28, 2026 at Cherokee Medical Center.

Born in Blacksburg, she was the widow of the late Loran Lee “Bill” Bright and daughter of the late Clarence Edward Byars and Ila Childers Byars. She was a retired nurse and a member of Park Hills Baptist Church. She loved her family, cooking, baking, and also made cakes for many people.

Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Cook (Bob) of Columbia and Donna Peterson, of the home; six grandchildren, Ashley Eagle, Chad Eagle, Johnathan Batchelor, Stephanie Batchelor, Adrian Batchelor and Jessica Colton; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Eagle, Cooper Ward. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Danny Lee Bright, a daughter, Nancy Batchelor, a grandson, Bryant Lee Eagle, and eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, August 31, 2026 in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.

The family will be at their respective homes.
