Obituary

Douglas “Doug” Pye

Chesnee, SC - - Douglas Lee Pye left his earthly home on October 11, 2026 to meet his Lord and Savior in his heavenly home.

Born on December 6, 1938, he was the son of the late Dillard and Ada Smith Pye. He resided at Palmetto Patriots Home in Gaffney.

Doug was predeceased by a sister, Mary Jane McCoy and a brother, Harold W. Pye. He is survived by special friends, Gary & Allison Mossburg of Forest City, NC and Amanda Westmoreland of Gaffney, SC.

Doug was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and a Shriner. He was Chief of Police for the Chesnee Police Department for 12 years. He served on City Council and he was Mayor for four years. His love was police work and helping the people of Chesnee. In the winter, he would get groceries, medicine and fuel for the people who couldn’t get out. He kept a list of shut-ins and elderly and contacted them every day. He was an avid supporter of the Goods News Club many years and supported the “Cruisers” on Sunday afternoons. In his later years, he turned his life over to God and served Him with the ministry of handing out tracts, sharing the Gospel, devotions, and words of encouragement with others with hopes that they too would experience the love and peace of Jesus.
