Douglas "Doug" Owens

Gaffney, SC - - Douglas "Doug" Curtis Owens, 70, of 4553 Union Highway, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Marilyn Scates Owens for 50 years and son of the late Robert "Bob" Lee Owens and Annie Peeler Owens.  He was a graduate of Gaffney High School, was formerly employed by Sanders Brothers and Overnite and of the Methodist faith. He loved his family, his fur-baby "Doc", carp fishing, racing, especially Kyle Bush.  He was also an avid Carolina Gamecock and Gaffney Indians fan.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Jason Owens (fiancé Kim Gault) of Gaffney; a daughter, Jennie Owens (Adam Willier) of Piedmont; two sisters, Frances Harris and Annie Lee Smalley, both of Gaffney; two grandchildren, Jay Owens and Jaycee Owens; numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Gene Owens and two brothers-in-law, Paul Smalley and Wilkes Harris.

The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Blakely Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sidney Weaver, Dr. Ron Culbertson and Ms. Jennie Owens officiating.  Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
