Douglas Brand

Spartanburg, SC - - It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved father, Douglas John Brand on November 8, 2024.

He was a loving husband to his late wife, Rosemary Wust Brand for thirty years (deceased in 1994) and also to his late wife Dr. Joan Foss for twenty years (deceased in 2017).

Born in Dundee, Scotland in 1939, Dougie was a decorated special forces officer for 20 years serving in the special boat service as a Royal Marine.  He subsequently worked in the oil industry and eventually ran his own explosive engineering company in Aberdeen, Scotland.   He traveled extensively working as a security consultant and was an accomplished artist. Among his many talents, arguably Dougie's greatest, lay in his ability to enthrall those he encountered.  A charismatic raconteur, he was dearly loved by those fortunate enough to cross his path.  It is safe to say, without fear of contradiction, that Dougie lived an extraordinary life, full of adventures and experiences throughout the world for over eight decades.

He is survived by his two sons, Andrew Brand (Sonjia) of Spartanburg, and Michael Brand of Hatfield, England; six grandchildren, Mackenzie Buonopane (Charles, Jr.), Alex and Anneliese Brand, (U.S.) and Alex (his partner Nikkala), Peter and Rosie Brand (U.K.); two great grandchildren, Wesley Buonopane (U.S.) and Rueben Brand (U.K.)
