Don Chitty

Gaffney, SC - - Don Wesley Chitty, 69, of 309 W. Montgomery Street, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 16, 2026 at Cherokee Medical Center.

Born in Orangeburg, SC, he was the son of Grace Cobb Blanton of the home and stepson of the late William “Bill” Blanton. He was a 1975 graduate of Gaffney High School, was formerly employed in construction, and was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church. He loved his family, football, and was an avid Gaffney Indians, S.C. Gamecocks, and Dallas Cowboys fan.

Surviving in addition to his mother is a son, Jackson Owensby of Gaffney; a brother, Charles Chitty (Sharon) of Gaffney; a sister, Jackie Drake of Gaffney; two nephews, Grayson Drake (Riley McCraw) and Conner Chitty (Kelsey Jones).

Memorial services will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Richard Sellars and Reverend Bobby Morrow III officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
