Cheryl Barker

Gaffney, SC - - Cheryl Munsey Barker, 69, of 528 Leadmine Road, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Cherokee Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, she was the loving wife of James Henry Barker for 53 years and for the last three years, he was her faithful caregiver. She was the daughter of the late Frances Mullinax Scruggs and step-daughter, of Heyward Scruggs. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, taking care of all the neighborhood children and loved animals. She also enjoyed the beach and the mountains. Mrs. Barker was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her husband, also surviving are two daughters, April Barker Barnhill and Alyssa Munsey, both of Gaffney; a brother, Clayton Scruggs of Gaffney; a sister, Leslie Scruggs Higgins (Chris) of Gaffney; a granddaughter, Autumn Carter Barnhill; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barker was preceded in death by a brother, James Dean Munsey.

The family will receive friends from 12:00PM until 1:00PM on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Richard Sellars officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Ararat Baptist Church Cemetery.
