Charlie Thornton

Cowpens, SC - - Charles "Charlie" William Thornton, 71, of 559 McGraw Road, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 29, 2025.

Born in Wise, VA, he was the loving husband of Amanda Blake Thornton for 35 years and the son of the late Donald E. Thornton, Sr. and Iola Parsons Thornton. He was a graduate of Lower Richland High School, loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was a Master Carpenter and everything he did was done with precision and had a passion for his work. He was a loving, kind and generous man, husband, father, grandfather and best friend. Mr. Thornton was a former member of Pine Bluff Baptist of Columbia.

In addition to his wife, also surviving are two daughters, Brittany Bryant (Dustin) of Cowpens and Catherine Drake (Jesse) of Dawsonville, GA; two brothers, Tom Thornton of Gaston, SC and Richard Thornton (Mary Arthur) of Spartanburg; two sisters, Judy Thornton McClure of Pelion, SC and Gerri Thornton Goss (Craig Armstrong) of Lawrenceville, GA; four grandchildren, whom affectionally called "PaPa", Shyanne Harris, Ava Harris, Alahna Bryant and Daniel Drake; a grandchild on the way, Baby Tucker; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Mr. Thorn`        ton was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Edward Thornton Jr. and Robert L. Hice; a step-son, Patrick Rich; his loving in-laws, Dale Thornton, Sandy Thornton, Bert McClure and Harry Burns.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905 or charity of one's choice.

The family will be at their respective homes.
