Charles Armstrong

Gaffney, SC – Charles Worth Armstrong, 90, formerly of 238 Daniel Morgan School Road, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 27, 2024, at Palmetto Patriots Home.

Born in Paw Creek, NC, he was the husband of the late Etta Pressley Armstrong and son of the late Oliver Armstrong and Ethel Armstrong.  He was a retired Captain from the South Carolina Highway Patrol, was a U. S. Army and U. S. Navy veteran, and a member of New Pleasant Baptist Church.  He loved his family, restoring antique cars and traveling.

He is survived by a grandson, William G. Armstrong Jr. (Carla) of West End, NC; two great-grandchildren, Garet Armstrong and Greyson Armstrong; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Armstrong of Gaffney; a special friend, Lucille Hammett of Gaffney. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William Gordon Armstrong, Sr. and a daughter, Susan Armstrong.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Lucille Hammett.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Blakely Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow at 12:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bryan Yelton officiating and Reverend Brandon Morris officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: New Pleasant Baptist Church, "Parking Lot Fund", 242 New Pleasant Road, Gaffney, SC 29341.

The family will be at the home of Lucille Hammett, 156 Lettie Road, Gaffney, SC.
