Carl "Whitey" Grant Jr.
Gaffney, SC - - Carl A. "Whitey" Grant Jr.,82, of 720 10th Street, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at his residence.
Born in Shelby, NC, he was the loving husband of Betty Lucille Owens Grant for 60 years and the son of the late Carl A. Grant, Sr. and Lucille Horne Grant. He pursued a variety of vocations over his career until he found his passion as an Arborist and tree care professional and was the owner/operator of Grant and Son's Tree Service. Two of his favorite subjects to talk about were his family and trees to anybody that would listen. In addition to the tree care profession, he was also a rancher, master electrician, realtor, auctioneer and a member of The South Carolina Army National Guard. Two of the biggest goals were for his children to know the Lord, get a college education and he succeeded in both. He was a great family leader, husband, father, and friend who could be counted on. He had a great love for his family and loved his Lord and his church. Mr. Grant was a member of East Gaffney Baptist Church, where he was a lifetime Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and served on numerous committees.
In addition to his wife, also surviving are two sons, Steve Grant (Shelly) of Spartanburg and David Grant of Charleston; a brother-in-law, Clyde Turney of Gaffney; two sisters, Louise Westmoreland and Juanita Parris, both of Gaffney; four grandchildren, Mitchell Grant (Sara Ann), Zachary Grant, Parker Grant (Alexis) and Lillian (Lily) Grant; a great-granddaughter, Annabelle Grant and another one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Grant was preceded in death by a brother, Sam Grant; and two sisters, Alice Turney and Barbara Henry. The family would like to pay a special thank you to his church family and Rebecca, Felicia, Ashley and Dot with Agape Care and Lisa with White Picket Fence Homecare, who took care of him and his family.
The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until 2:00PM on Friday, October 25, 2024 at East Gaffney Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00PM at the church with Reverend Derrick Knight officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials me be made to: East Gaffney Baptist Church, 2308 Cherokee Avenue, Gaffney, SC, 29340.
