Brenda Holmes

Gaffney, SC - - Brenda Richardson Holmes, 86, of 115 South View Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 20, 2026 at her residence.

Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the late James Albert Holmes and daughter of the late Henry Frank Richardson and Julia “Judy” Ruppe Richardson. She was a graduate of Gaffney High School, retired from textiles, and was a member of Kirby Church. She loved her family, gardening, canning and cooking.

Surviving are three sons, James Edward Holmes, Benjamin Holmes and Todd Holmes (Ann), all of Gaffney; four grandchildren, Joshua Franklin Holmes, James Albert Holmes (Christina), Crystal Diane Ramsey and Amanda Louise Holmes; four great-grandchildren, Rhett Holmes, Autumn Holcomb, Austin Wilkinson and Summer Allison; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, S. A. Richardson and Marvin Richardson, and three sisters, Lucille Hampton, Juanita Broome and Cornelia Ramsey.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, September 24, 2026 in Oakland Cemetery with Reverend Will Vergara officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

The family will be at the residence.
