Billy “Bubba” Smith, Jr.

Spartanburg, SC - - Billy Russell “Bubba” Smith, Jr., 41, of 233 Sweet Gum Road, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

Born in Spartanburg, he was the husband of Jessica Warren Smith and son of Billy Russell Smith, Sr. of Blacksburg and Bertha Skates Steel of Gaffney and stepson of Thomas Steel. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School, employed by Western Express, and of the Baptist faith. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as “Pop Pop”, fishing and riding motorcycles.

Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are three sons, Isaiah Ruby (Zoe) of Gaffney, Ethan Ruby and Zachary Smith, both of the home; two daughters, Jeanna Smith of Greenville and Madison Turner (Bobby) of Gaffney; two brothers, Dustin Smith (Stephanie) and Joseph Smith, both of Gaffney; two sisters, Amanda Westmoreland (Joey) and Brittney Parris (Justin), both of Gaffney; maternal grandmother, Martha Skates of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Oaklynn Turner, Jensen Turner and Waylon Ruby; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Thursday October 29, 2026 at Blakely Funeral Home.
