Obituary

Beverly Joye Morrow

Gaffney, SC - - Beverly Joye Morrow, 94, formerly of Gaffney, S.C. went home to be with the Lord on August 18, 2025. For the last seven years Beverly has resided at Navion of Shelby, formerly known as Brookdale.

Beverly was born on June 30, 1931, to the late Lattie Mae Alexander Joye and Clealand Mason Joye. After the passing of her father when she was six years old, her mother remarried Hazel Winburn Cuttino, who was a beloved father and grandfather, and affectionately known by all as 'Daddy Happy.'' She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Maurice B. Morrow Jr., who was her true soulmate and shared life in everything they did. She was also predeceased by her three siblings, Clealand Mason Joye Jr., Sybil Joye Connell, and Benjamin Alexander Cuttino.

Mrs. Morrow is survived by her children, Maurine Honeycutt (Brian) of Spartanburg, S.C., M.B. (Bobby) Morrow III (April) of Gaffney, S.C. and Mae Beth (Jeff) Robinson of Shelby, N.C. She leaves behind 5 loving grandchildren, who knew her as "Gaga": Kristen Downey (Brandon) of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., Spencer Morrow of Orlando, Florida, Kaci Barnes (Colin) of Jacksonville, Florida, Haley Morrow of Charlotte, N.C. and Austin Robinson (Rachel) of Greenwood, S.C. She also was blessed with three great grandchildren, Oakley Morris, Rawlings Morris and Beau Barnes. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Sandy Cuttino, of Cave Creek Arizona.

Beverly was an extremely devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was always thinking of others above herself. When you left her home, she never wanted you to leave empty handed and treasured walking you to the door to see you out. She truly exemplified how a Christian woman should live her life. She was also a devoted pastor's wife and homemaker for her children for many years. She greeted everyone she met with kindness even up until her last day of life. She left Sumter, South Carolina in 1951 but never lost her "Southern drawl" as exemplified by those living in the lower part of the State of S.C. She was asked in recent days many times," Where are you from?' and she proudly answered, "Sumter."  She was a graduate of Edmunds High School.

Beverly lived in various parts of S.C., carrying out the duties of being a devoted Pastor's wife. She always sought to minister to those less fortunate or to anyone in need. She baked bread, cooked meals, and shared from the garden that she faithfully worked in with our Dad. She set the perfect example for her children of "Loving your Neighbor" as Christ would have us do.

She and our beloved Dad retired to Gaffney around 1991, where they made their home for many years. She moved to Shelby in 2018 to be close to one of her children and to have a community around her daily to share life with. The family is extremely grateful to Navion of Shelby for the loving compassionate care given to our Mother during recent years, but especially during her last weeks. We also are appreciative to Via Health Partners and Lindsey Coyle for taking excellent care of our Mother and guiding us during a difficult time.

Mrs. Morrow's service will be held on Tuesday morning September 9 at Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church in Gaffney, S.C. at 11:00 A.M, with Rev. M.B. Morrow III and Rev. John Huckaby officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M., the morning of the funeral.

The burial will be on Wednesday morning at 11:00 A.M. in Sumter, S.C. at Evergreen Cemetery Park.  Memorials in memory of our Mother may be made to The M.B. Morrow scholarship fund in care of First Baptist Church, 200 N. Limestone Street, Gaffney, S.C. or VIA Health Partners of Cleveland County (Formerly known as Hospice).
