Bessie Ree Lavender

Gaffney, SC - - Bessie Ree Lemmons Lavender, 87, of 102 Cypress Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at her residence.

Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Ernest Glenn Lavender, Sr. and daughter of the late Buford B. Lemmons, Sr. and Bernice Reynolds Lemmons.  She was formerly employed by Bookshelf Florist, retired from Wal-Mart, was a member of Love Springs Baptist Church and attended Calvary Baptist Church.  She loved her family, was a great cook, an avid gardener, and a former member of the Gaffney Garden Club.  She also loved crafting and received several blue ribbons at State Fairs over the years.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Thomas Lavender, David Lavender (Linda) and Ernest Lavender, Jr., all of Gaffney; a brother, Buford B. Lemmons, Jr. of Spartanburg; a sister, Mary Crawford of Gaffney; four grandchildren, Michael Lavender (Jennifer) of Alabama, Tabitha Lavender of Blacksburg, Curstie Allison (James) of Gaffney and Shannon Moore (Jonathan) of Kings Mountain, NC; seven great-grandchildren and one expected great-great grandchild.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank Lemmons, Jack Lemmons, Walter Lemmons and Robert Lee "Joe" Lemmons and four sisters, Frances Frady, Betty Crawford, Edna Fowler and Belva Lemmons.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Blakely Funeral Home.  Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 AM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Chris White officiating.  Entombment will be in the Frederick Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
